What can you expect this group?
  • 4-week group program that meets for 90 minutes each Monday from 6:00-7:30 pm ET starting on 2/28/22.
  • "Process Art" Group which means the art you make does not need to be shared. Share only if you want to.
  • Art directives will be suitable for novices through more experienced artists.
  • This group is open to participants 18 and older.
  • Supply your own art materials. See link below. Drawing paper and colored markers, pencil, or crayons are enough to start.

Session Descriptions:
  • Session 1:  Intro to Negativity Bias, what is it, what we can do about it, and a simple low-stress warm-up art directive.
  • Sessions 2, 3, & 4:  Creativity-based strategy practice to improve the "stickiness" of our positive experiences.

Purpose:
  • Development of creative skills that increase the stickiness of positive experiences to neutralize the impact of negativity bias.
  • This is not a therapy group.

How can we "tune" ourselves to become more aware of our positive experiences?
  • Attend the weekly group.
  • Share or hear positive experiences in response to "What are some of the best things that happened to you last week?"
  • Expect to feel challenged. It should become easier as we tune ourselves to become more aware of our positive experiences.
  • Create art that focuses on your "best things that happened" to make your positive experiences "stickier" and more memorable.
  • Commit to at least 30 minutes between sessions each week to create a deeper connectedness to your positive experiences.
  • Between weekly session, take photos, screen shots, or find images to help you remember positive experiences.
  • Taking or finding photos or images allows us to practice pausing to acknowledge positive experiences.
  • Images can be printed, copied, traced, colored in, painted over, collaged, or used in any way to create art during group sessions.

I hope you can join me!
