What is different about Creating Balance?

I don't tell you what to eat. Telling people what to eat rarely works. 

Instead, I take a reasonable, realistic, behavioral science approach to actively guide you as to make nutrition changes in rewarding and achievable ways.

By choosing me as your accountability partner and nutrition coach, you will discover how to motivate yourself to change to your habits and ultimately change your life.

Creating Balance: Functional Nutrition C0aching is based upon the evidence-based MyPlate recommendations created by the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP). The CNPP works to improve the health and well-being of Americans by developing and promoting dietary guidance that links scientific research to the nutrition needs of consumers.

Learning how to actually eat well should not feel more difficult than doing your own taxes. Unfortunately, it is true that most Americans have no idea what balanced nutrition looks like. 

Have you attempted challenging diets hoping something will work to improve your health but it was just unsustainable?

We know that diets that severely restrict calories or arbitrarily eliminate entire food groups simply cannot achieve the nutritional balance necessary for long-term health.

Creating Balance: Function Nutrition Coaching teaches you what MyPlate recommends, helps you personalizes the portions goals to your needs while maintaining the integrity of the plan, and  helps you practice eating with enough successful repetitions to create sustainable change that sticks.   ​ 

MyPlate is currently based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025. These guidelines offer evidence-based recommendations about how to eat to support health in reducing risk of  illness.  

By eating in a nutritionally balanced way, we can achieve and maintain optimal health as measured by
- body composition,
- blood glucose levels,
- blood pressure,
- cholesterol,
= triglycerides,
​- and/or other measurements that directly relate to optimal health and wellness.  
​

- This is not a diet.

​- This is cannot replace treatment for any current medical condition. 

- 
This is program is ideal to help individuals not yet diagnosed with lifestyle and/or nutrition-influenced health conditions reduce risk of becoming unwell. This program can also work alongside and be modified to achieve the needs of an actual nutrition-treatment plan provided to you by a health care provider.  (Nutrition Coaches do not prescribe treatment. We help people avoid getting sick.)

- There are no meal plans provided in this program.  
- You can eat whatever you want, nothing is off limits, but you only track the most nutrition foods. Welcome back carbs!
- You can eat whenever your want. No fasting required. You are encouraged to eat whenever you feel hungry. 
- I don't tell you what to eat. I teach you how to decide what you should eat or order to meet minimum nutritional standards while also having room for some less nutritional foods daily. 

- There is no food log, but we do use a no frills simple scoring system to tally food group portions in a way that works best for you. 
- There is no weighing yourself or your food unless you want to. We use good faith estimates to tally portions. 
- There is no calorie counting. We track only broad food groups, not specific food items. 
- There are no macro goals. If we eat a balanced diet, macros take care of themselves. 


"Creating Balance" aspires to be one of the easiest, most reasonable, most realistic, most flexible, most easy to personalize nutrition programs most people will ever participate in and it will likely have the best results because of those reasons.   

- We focus on the process of changing nutritional habits with as little friction as possible. 
- We focus our attention on daily actions that lead to change not just long-term outcomes. Outcomes are achieved when optimal actions become automatic. 
- We set up a program that compels you to make good choices which are reinforced immediately, 
- We will build accountability and support as you share your experiences during our private coaching sessions or though our Chats. 

= You will learn how to track only the absolute minimum amount of information needed for you to achieve your goal. 
- You will learn how many portions of each food group you should aim to consume daily
- You will learn how to make a good enough estimate of portion sizes when out in the world.
- You will be offered positive, simple, and enjoyable ways to track what you need to know.  
- You will learn that balancing nutrition often eliminates feeling hungry. 
- You will learn that you can't often if ever eat 100% of what is recommended and that is ok.

- for the Mediterranean Diet proven to reduce risk for diabetes, arthritis, or other illnesses that are exacerbated by inflammation.

  • 49.00 for additional coaching sessions scheduled as needed without any commitment to continue. 
  • 176.40 (10% discount) for 4-session coaching package. 
    • 8 weeks to use all sessions.
    • Unused pre-paid sessions are non-refundable.​
    •  Most people request to start with the 4-sessions reduced rate package and use the first session for the initial assessment session but you are free to schedule just one session to start.
